Community Baptist Church of Garfield is an independent, fundamental Baptist church located in Bergen County New Jersey, just west of New York City. Our church is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Northern New Jersey/NYC area.
We are an autonomous congregation. We are self-governing and self-supporting. The head of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice. It is our desire to be a truly New Testament church.
rIGHT ABOUT NOW YOU WOULD NORMALLY SEE A GRAPHIC ART RENDITION OF A CORONAVIRUS. i'M SURE YOU'VE SEEN ENOUGH OF THEM ALREADY, SO I'LL SHOW YOU A MUCH MORE ENCOURAGING ONE:
And here's an encouraging verse to go along with it:
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
as you might expect, we are having to do some things differently here at community baptist. here are some things you need to know:
As of sunday, March 22, our morning service will continue to be broadcast on our facebook livestream platform at 11:00. There is also a link at the top of this page that will take you to a sermon page for those who do not have a facebook account. we had already suspended our Sunday evening and wednesday night services as of the previous week. all services will resume once the crisis has passed and restrictions on public meetings have been lifted.
due to the current mandate that restricts meetings to groups of ten or less, we will not be meeting in the church building for the present time.
it is good for us to remember through all of this that the church is not the building but rather God's people. (notwithstanding, the church should meet publicly and visibly as an assembly when at all possible.) He will be faithful to take care of his people. let us be faithful in attending via our live-stream services and in our tithes and offerings as they belong to god for the furtherance of his gospel ministry.
you can find a link at the bottom of this and other pages for easy donating through paypal or by credit or debit card. if you prefer, simply mail a check to the church address also found at the bottom of this page.
since we have had to cancel services in our building, this will also apply to our mission conference. we will be taking both missionary families on for monthly support. in lieu of making new faith promise commitments, please continue to give to missions as you have been throughout the past year. When services resume once again at our church location, we will make new commitments at that time and also have our international banquet. We will update with new information as it becomes available.
Whether you're a member at Community Baptist or just interested in keeping up with what's going on at the church, we invite you to check in from time to time: a special service, a church BBQ, or maybe a Bible study. Like us on Facebook and check in often for all the up to date info on what's going on at CBC.
"Lots of Love"
linda J Janke
memorial scholarship fund
Linda Janke was a blessing to so many, and, on the first anniversary of her passing, we wish to carry on her legacy. This scholarship will be awarded to a young married ministerial student attending Bible college. She fondly reminisced of her and Dad's early college years. The financial burdens were hard, but the blessing of faith, family and friends was everything. Donations to the scholarship fund may be made by mail or online using the PayPal button below. Please designate donations as: Linda J. Janke Scholarship. If donating by check, all checks must be written payable to COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH with "Linda J. Janke Scholarship" in the memo field. Every donation, large or small, will be a blessing to the recipient of each year's scholarship, the first of which will be awarded this spring semester.
