Community Baptist Church of Garfield is an independent, fundamental Baptist church located in Bergen County New Jersey, just west of New York City. Our church is easily accessible from anywhere in the greater Northern New Jersey/NYC area.
We are an autonomous congregation. We are self-governing and self-supporting. The head of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice. It is our desire to be a truly New Testament church.
First of all, we need to remember that god is still on the throne
"Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God."
UPdated August 29, 2020
as you might expect, we are having to do some things differently here at community baptist. here are some things you need to know:
AS of August 2, all indoor services have resumed. Please note our new Mid-week service start time:
Sunday School 10 AM
Sunday Morning service 11 AM
Sunday evening service 6 pm
midweek service 7 pm
We are able to meet at 48% capacity and are currently only allowing to attend those who have already been attending in order to keep everyone safe during this time. it is our sincere desire of the Lord that we may soon allow visitors into the church once again and will post that update here when that becomes possible.
what to expect when you arrive IN REFERENCE TO COVID:
Your temperature will be taken with a no-touch digital thermometer by a friendly member of our church. in order to attend, a reading of 100.4 degrees or lower is required.
there are hand sanitizer stations located throughout the building. we request that all visitors utilize these stations upon entering the building, and after using our restrooms.
Sanitizing spray and/or wipes are available in our restrooms and we request that touched surfaces are sanitized upon leaving the restroom.
seating may only be guaranteed by Rsvp which may be done via our church phone (973-471-0404) or email (4Him247@msn.com). Maximum capACITY FOR OUR CHURCH (25%) IS 48. WE REQUEST THAT YOU rSVP AS WE DO NOT WISH TO TURN ANYONE AWAY IN THE EVENT THAT WE ARE AT MAX CAPACITY WHEN YOU ARRIVE.
sEATING IN OUR PEWS IS DONE SO WITH SOCIAL DISTANCING IN MIND. IF YOU HAVE RSVP'D, THERE WILL BE A PLACARD IN ONE OF THE PEWS RESERVED FOR YOU.
mASKS ARE REQUIRED IN OUR BUILDING AT ALL TIMES; WE ARE NOT SHAKING HANDS AT THIS TIME. PLEASE GREET ONE ANOTHER WITH A FRIENDLY "hELLO!"'
Children's ministries and nursery ministry is suspended at this time
FELLOWSHIP (A TIME TO TALK AND SPEND TIME CATCHING UP WITH OTHERS) WILL BE HELD OUTSIDE THE BUILDING AFTER THE SERVICE IS CONCLUDED. WE ASK THAT ALL IN ATTENDANCE EXIT THE BUILDING DIRECTLY FOLLOWING THE CONCLUSION OF THE SERVICE.
it is good for us to remember through all of this that the church is not the building but rather God's people ARE. (notwithstanding, the church should meet publicly and visibly as an assembly when at all possible.) He will be faithful to take care of his people. let us be faithful in attending church physically as well as via our live-stream OPTION and in our tithes and offerings as they belong to god for the furtherance of his gospel ministry.

linda J Janke
memorial scholarship fund
Linda Janke was a blessing to so many, and, on the first anniversary of her passing, we wish to carry on her legacy. This scholarship will be awarded to a young married ministerial student attending Bible college. She fondly reminisced of her and Dad's early college years. The financial burdens were hard, but the blessing of faith, family and friends was everything. Donations to the scholarship fund may be made by mail or online using the PayPal button below. Please designate donations as: Linda J. Janke Scholarship. If donating by check, all checks must be written payable to COMMUNITY BAPTIST CHURCH with "Linda J. Janke Scholarship" in the memo field. Every donation, large or small, will be a blessing to the recipient of each year's scholarship, the first of which will be awarded this spring semester.
